The Bournea Reaching Out group pictured on their recent outing to Kildare
The Bournea Reaching Out Historical Society enjoyed their annual outing last week and visited Kildare Town.
The group's first stop was the Solas Bhride Centre where they met Sr. Rita Minehan who gave a detailed lecture on the life and legacy of St Bridget and also spoke about the St Bridget Cross and showed a number of examples of the cross from all over the country.
Following a visit to the Market House in the Square they visited St Brigid’s Cathedral and Round Tower and after dinner visited the National Stud and Japanese Gardens. The final visit was to the Parish Church in Kildare Town to visit the relics of St Brigid, which only recently returned to Kildare from Portugal.
“Thanks to the organisers for a memorable trip. Our next event will be our annual Historical walk in a few weeks time around beautiful Killea. More details over the coming weeks”, they said.
