Local Link set to launch new bus service from Offaly to TUS Athlone

From September 9 Local Link will offer a bus service from Ballycumber to Athlone TUS and Moate Business College

Laois-Offaly Local Link will launch its new Local Link Bus service, the no. 9990, this coming September 9.

The Monday to Friday service will operate during college term and will depart Ballycumber at 8am arriving at Athlone TUS at 8:40am. Enroute it will stop at Ferbane, Ballinahown and Moate Business College.

The return service will leave Athlone at 17:00 from Monday to Thursday and 13:15 on a Friday arriving into Ballycumber 30 to 35 minutes later.

Those from Pullough wishing to catch the bus can avail of the 07:43am number 840 bus from Pullough which arrives in Ballycumber at 07:55 however, they will need to be quick as it gives just a five minute connection window.

There is an existing Local Link service that leaves Pullough at 07:25am and arrives in Athlone TUS at 08:40.

These Local Link services only operate during college times, but they are open to all.

Adult Leapcard fares have a flat fare rate of €2.80 while student/young person's Leap fares are €1.40. Timetables and all fare details can be found at the Laois Offaly Local Link website.

The service will operate from September 9 to December 20, 2024 and from January 6, 2025 to May 9, 2025.
