Offaly Senior “B” and Intermediate Hurling Championships move towards knockout stages

Eimhin Kelly and Lusmagh badly need a win in the SHC "B"

The Molloy Environmental Systems Senior “B” Hurling Championship will move closer to the knockout stages.

Senior “B” Hurling Championship

Holders Kilcormac-Killoughey have established themselves as the early favourites in the Senior “B” Hurling Championship. They aren't as good as last year but still have an excellent mixture of youth and experience and have impressed with two wins out of two to date.

That has put them top of the table on 4 points, followed by Carrig-Riverstown on 3, Birr and Clara on 2, Clodiagh Gaels on 1 and Lusmagh on 0.

The top four teams qualify for the semi-finals and there is still a lot of hurling to be played but Lusmagh and Clodiagh Gaels desperately need points. Clodiagh Gaels are one of the contenders while Carrig-Riverstown are second favourites at the moment – though their derby clash with Birr will tell a lot about them this Friday and Birr will relish taking them on and testing them.

It is once again a very exciting championship and there will be plenty of twists and turns yet.

Round 3 fixtures are:

Lusmagh v Clodiagh Gaels: Friday, August 16 in Rath 7pm

Verdict – Clodiagh Gaels.

Carrig-Riverstown v Birr: Friday, August 16 in Crinkle 7pm

Verdict – Carrig-Riverstown.

Clara v Kilcormac-Killoughey: Saturday, August 17 in Banagher 4pm

Verdict – Kilcormac-Killoughey.
