ALERT: Dunnes Stores issues urgent recall for almost 10,000 baby items due to 'choking' risk

ALERT: Dunnes Stores issues urgent recall for almost 10k baby items due to 'choking' risk

An urgent recall has been issued to Irish parents as a leading retailer has pulled baby sleepsuits from shelves due to a safety issue. 

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) issued the alert on Monday that Dunnes Stores is carrying out a recall of Bunny Zip, Lion Zip and Animal Zip Sleepsuits sold in stores nationwide.

According to the CCPC, approximately 9,805 affected products were sold in the Republic of Ireland from May 24 2024 to August 13 2024.

"The risk presented by the product is choking. The zip slider may detach from the garments zip line creating a small part. The small part may be placed in the mouth and swallowed, causing a young child to choke," the alert states.

"The brand is Dunnes Stores. The type/style number of the sleepsuits are Lion Zip sleepsuit – Style No. 6421433, Bunny Zip sleepsuit – Style No. 6421232 and Animal Zip sleepsuit – Style No. 6421234."

The serial numbers for the products are:

Lion Zip sleepsuit: Newborn 5099014102805, 0-3 months 5099014102812, 3-6 months 5099014102836, 6-9 months 5099014102843, 9-12 months 5099014102850, 12-18 months 5099014102829.

Bunny Zip sleepsuit: Newborn 5099014102744, 0-3 months 5099014102751, 3-6 months 5099014102775, 6-9 months 5099014102782, 9-12 months 5099014102799, 12-18 months 5099014102768.

Animal Zip sleepsuit: Newborn 5099014102867, 0-3 months 5099014102874, 3-6 months 5099014102898, 6-9 months 5099014102904, 9-12 months 5099014102911, 12-18 months 5099014102881.

If you purchased one of these products, the advice is to: "Please discontinue use immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.
