Man accused of sexually assaulting female minor in Offaly sent to Circuit Court for trial
A man has been sent forward to Tullamore Circuit Court on charges of allegedly sexually assaulting a female minor in Offaly.
The 63-year-old, who cannot be named, is alleged to have committed the offences on dates unknown between May 1 and June 30, 2019.
The man appeared before Tullamore District Court last week where a book of evidence was served on him by Garda Stacey O'Brien.
Judge Andrew Cody sent him forward to appear at the Circuit Court sitting on October 8 next.
The accused man is on bail and Judge Cody sent him forward after approving an independent surety in the sum of €1,000.
When the proposed surety appeared in court and said he had €1,000 with him the judge told him he needed to prove that he had a bank account with that amount in it.
The case was let stand for a period and when the independent surety returned with bank statements it was approved.
Judge Cody explained that €1,000 will be frozen in the account.
