Gaelscoil Na Laochra Biorra students at Leinster House with Minister Pippa Hackett and their teachers
MINISTER Pippa Hackett was delighted to welcome the Senior Students from Gaelscoil Na Laochra Biorra to Leinster House recently.
Speaking following their visit, she said “Leinster House is steeped in our State’s history: It is a privilege to be able to sponsor a few schools every year to experience this and get an insight into the everyday workings of the Dáil and Seanad. It was obvious that pupils of Gaelscoil na Laochra were very interested and I was particularly delighted to receive the feedback from Múinteoir Ailbhe and Múinteoir Alex that a few of the pupils mentioned that they might like to be politicians in the future!
Some of the other feedback included:
Bhí gach rud i bhfad níos mó ná a cheap mé, go háirithe an Dáil
Everything was a lot bigger than we thought, especially the Dàil
An chuid is mó a thaitin linn ná a bheith ag suí san Dáil is sa Seanad, go háirithe nuair a bhí na polaiteoirí ann ag díospóireacht is ag obair - bhíomar ar bís ach go háirithe chun Pippa a fheiceáil!
Our favourite part was sitting in the Seanad and Dáil, especially when there were politicians debating and working in there at the same time - we were especially excited to see Pippa speaking!
Thaitin an 'shoutout' a fuaireamar sa Seanad go mór linn freisin!
We really enjoyed the 'shoutout' we got from the Seanad too!
