Plenty of excitement as Golfing Society holds Captain's Prize

THERE was plenty of excitement in Portumna Golf Club last Saturday as Kinnitty Golfing Society held their Captain's Prize.

The best of the weather and the lovely course condition made it a most enjoyable day with Damien Hussey emerging as the eventual winner.

After the round the presentation took place in the clubhouse. The Captain and main sponsor Robert O’Donnell expressed his gratitude to all participants. He had a special mention for Portumna Golf Club and their catering staff for the great food that was laid on for the occasion, also, the condition of the course and lovely touches like having the Longest Drive and Nearest the pin markers sorted beforehand.

He reminded the members that the next outing will be in Nenagh Golf Club on October 19th.

The results were as follows: 1st, Damien Hussey; 2nd, Eugene Coughlan; 3rd, Niall Corrigan; Best Gross, Ray Bradley; 4th, Paddy Corrigan; Front 9, Gavin Corrigan; Back 9, Jerome Molloy; Longest Drive, Adrian O’Sullivan; Nearest the pin, Damien Hussey; Past Captains, Damien Hussey; Visitor, John Buckley.

The Golfer of the Year is currently being led by John Roche, followed by Padraig Dooley, Stephen Molloy, Niall Corrigan and Jerome Molloy.
