It was a special morning for Ellie from Texas, who received a birthday shoutout from her favourite radio show, after her Offaly dad set up the surprise.

Ray Foley, whose show takes place on Today FM from 2-4:30pm every weekday, was overjoyed to learn that he was the school girl and her dad's 'breakfast show', listening to it every morning before Ellie is dropped off to school, all the way over in the United States.

Ellie's dad, Sean Farrell, originally hails from Rhode, Co Offaly, and is currently living in Corpus Christi, Texas with his family.

In a video posted to Today FM's Facebook page, the radio show host was sent in a request by Sean, stating that it was Ellie's 13th birthday and could he wish her a happy birthday on air, to which Ray jokingly asks his co-hosts, "How do you mortify a 13 year old?", revealing that in the father's message, he asked Ray and his panel if they could do anything to embarrass her, classic dad behaviour.

Ray's co-host shared that as a child, "My dad used to walk us up to the checkout in the shopping centre and fart loudly while we were waiting in the queue." The co-hosts share a laugh and it is decided how best they are going to prank Ellie.

"This is all about Ellie today, its Ellie's 13th birthday today, can we give her 13 rounds?" to which 13 fart sounds are made in a row, with the video cutting to a very embarrassed Ellie indeed, laughing and clasping her mouth shut in disbelief.

"Hopefully daddy rolled down the windows, nice and loud, so everyone in school could hear it," Ray concludes, leaving Ellie astonished.

Some loyal listeners of the Ray Foley show took to social media to wish Ellie a happy birthday also, all the way from the Emerald Isle.
