A scene from TADS successful production, 'The Incarnation of the Prodigal Son' which was staged earlier this year
Rehearsals have commenced in Tullamore for a John B. Keane favourite
REHEARSALS are well underway for Tullamore Amateur Dramatic Society (TADS) and their much anticipated Autumn production.
TADS are proud to present their interpretation of John B. Keane's "The Year of the Hiker" which is running from Tuesday, November 19 to Saturday, November 23 (inclusive) in the Esker Arts Centre, Tullamore.
Set in rural Ireland in the 1960s, John B. Keane’s "The Year of the Hiker" tells the tale of a father, who having deserted his family 20 years prior, reappears on his daughter’s wedding day.
"Hiker" Lacey, knowing he is dying, comes home to finally seek forgiveness from his wife and children.
The play is a character study of an unconventional family, haunted by loss and regret and explores father/son relationships, regret for lost love, and male weakness.
How each of the family come to terms with the Hiker’s return unfolds in an ambiguous manner.
