The location for the count centre in the General Election in Offaly has been revealed
COUNTING of votes in the General Election in the new three-seat Offaly constituency will commence on morning after polling day – Saturday, November 30 next.
The count centre will be located in St Brendan's Community School in Birr where the segregation of votes took place in the local elections last June.
On that occasion the actual counting of votes took place 20 miles away at Mucklagh Community Centre.
The General Election is managed by the County Registrar, Rory Hanniffy and his team.
The count will involve the opening and balancing of the ballot boxes before moving to the first count.
With just ten candidates in the race and three seats to be filled it is hoped that the final outcome will be known late on Saturday evening.
