Met Eireann issues rare Red Weather Warnings as Storm Bert to dump torrential rain on parts of Ireland
Met Eireann has issued two rare Red Weather Warnings as Storm Bert is to dump torrential and dangerous amounts of rain on parts of Ireland.
Met Eireann only issues the highest level Red Warning when rare and very dangerous weather conditions from intense meteorological phenomena are set to occur and warn people to be prepared for exceptional measures.
Separate Red Rain Warnings have been issued for Galway and Cork from midnight on Saturday until 10am on Saturday.
Met Eireann is warning that possible impacts include severe flooding, damage to homes & businesses and dangerous and treacherous travelling conditions.

A Status Orange Rain Warning is also in place for Waterford, Kerry, Clare, Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim. Met Eireann is warning of intense falls of rain over a short period of time in these counties. This warning comes into effect at midnight and remains in place until 10am on Saturday.
Status Yellow Wind and Rain warning has also been issued for Leinster, Munster, Connacht, Cavan and Monaghan for Storm Bert with Met Eireann warning of very strong southeast to south winds coupled with heavy rain. This warning is in place from 10pm on Friday until noon on Saturday.
There is also a Status Yellow Wind Warning for Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Wicklow and a Status Yellow Snow-Ice, Rain and Wind warning for Donegal which is in place from 10pm on Friday until noon on Saturday.
