'This is what can happen' - NCT shares shocking photos of failed car amid warning
NCT Ireland has shared a video to Facebook of a car that they described as "a rust bucket wreck" amid a warning to other motorists.
The underbody of the vehicle was corroded in rust and failed the NCT test as a result.
NCT Ireland warned that "this is what can happen if you don't look after your car properly."
The NCT's post read: "Corrosion can lead to serious safety issues under heavy braking or a tight turn or at any stage during driving- this vehicles rear axle could detach."
According to official NCT statistics from August 2024, there was a "52% pass rate" and 10,525 cars received a fail in that month.
In another Facebook post, NCT Ireland shared that the top reasons for NCT failure is tyres, headlamp aim and registration plates.
