Tributes have been paid after the passing of a Sister of Mercy at the Convent of Mercy in Tullamore

Sister Immaculata Bannon has passed in her 99th year at Convent of Mercy Tuallamore, Offaly.

Sister Immaculata died on January 19 and will be sadly missed by her community in Tullamore, Sisters of Mercy Northern Province, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Sr. Immaculata is remembered by all in the community as tributes have poured in on RIP.ie.

One tribute read, "Sr. Immaculata, May you rest in well deserved Peace after a life well lived in the Service & Prayer of others. Thank you for your life of service."

Another said, "sincere condolences to The Mercy sisters on the sad passing of sr immaculate. She was a kind caring soul and she showed it to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Sr immaculate you are with your God now. Rest in eternal peace."

Another person wrote, "Sr. Immaculata was a first cousin of my father and a regular visitor to our home in my childhood and youth. She showed great kindness and compassion to my late mother in her prolonged final illness. May she be rewarded for this in the next life."

Sr Immaculata's funeral Mass took place on Tuesday with burial afterwards to Clonminch Cemetery.
