Tullamore Camogie Club aims for silver in this year's Joe McDonagh Award
The Irish Committee of Tullamore Camogie Club were so proud of their achievement in winning a bronze medal for promoting Irish in the club, the committee are going to do it all again.
Going for silver this time Tullamore Camogie Club have registered and will be participating in Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha / The Joe McDonagh award again this year. Expect to see the club Fondúireacht signs again this year. Ar aghaidh linn!
To achieve the silver medal Tullamore Camogie Club will have to achieve 35 objectives in contrast with the 18 achieved for bronze. Last month our Irish Youth Officer Orla Gorman headed to Australia. Let us introduce our new Irish Youth Officer Ayesha Brazil. Fáilte romhat Ayesha.
The Irish Committee have identified three objectives that need immediate attention, the maidin caife or coffee mornings, create links with Irish Officers in the County and try and persuade members of the club players and their families to participate in Scór. Calling all club players or family members over the age of 17 the Irish Committee would like to invite you to participate in the Offaly Senior Scór County Final, Scór Sinsearach Uíbh Fhailí Craobh an Chontae to represent Tullamore Camogie Club.
For those unfamiliar with Scór, it is a GAA competition that promotes traditional past-times and culture. Set up 1969 the aim of Scór was to provide a social and fun alternative to club life during the winter months when the football and hurling season had finished.
The County Final will be held in Coolderry Community Hall on Friday 1st March 2025. A table quiz will commence proceedings at 6pm with the Main Competition at 7.30pm. For those who might be interested, the Main Competition consists of Figure Dancing, Solo Singing, Recitation, Ballad Group, Instrumental Music and Set Dancing. To represent Tullamore Camogie Club as a member of a quiz team please ring Mary on 0876967337.
Don’t forget registration is open for existing and new club member. Registration can be completed through Foireann. The Tullamore social camogie group, Camán n Chat, have returned to indoor training in Mucklagh Community Centre. It is hoped, weather permitting the group will return to outdoor play at the start of April. Fáilte ar ais a chailíní.
