Man appeared at Tullamore District Court
An Offaly man accused of drugs possession will not have to appear in court again until November because of a delay in getting suspect samples analysed, it emerged at Tullamore District Court.
The indicative value of suspected cocaine allegedly possessed by Jordan Glynn (22), Park View, Edenderry at Park View on November 28 last year is €3,500, Sergeant Brendan Kearns told Judge Andrew Cody.
Mr Glynn, who appeared at the District Court where he was represented by Patrick Martin, solicitor, is accused of both possessing the cocaine and possessing it for sale or supply to others.
Mr Martin told the court that a certificate of analysis of the suspected drugs would be required.
“That'll take nine months,” remarked Judge Cody. “Probably,” said Sergeant Kearns.
The judge made an order that evidence be disclosed to Mr Martin by November 1 next and adjourned the prosecution to November 5 when the accused will either have to enter a plea or opt for a hearing.
Judge Cody said that if a hearing is required it will take place on December 1 this year.
The drugs section of Forensic Science Ireland examines and analyses substances seized by An Garda Síochána that are thought to contravene the Misuse of Drugs Act.
