Killavilla Drama Group preparing for 21st annual production 'Room With A Queue”
EXCITEMENT is growing within the Killavilla Drama Group as they excitedly prepare for their 21st performance.
This year's play “Room with a Queue” is set to meet the same high standards we have come to expect from the group. This is a laugh out loud production and is sure to be a great night of entertainment with the usual side splitting antics!
It takes places in Killavilla Hall from Wednesday March 12th to Saturday March 15th at 8pm nightly.
“Room with a Queue” by Portmarnock playwright Grainne Jordan is the story of a Country n' Western line dancing fan who hatches a plan to get to Nashville with hilarious consequences.
A Synopsis
Recently made redundant, fun loving Emily seeks a getaway trip but needs some extra cash to fund her dream escape. Her grand scheme to rent out a spare room in her house, does not sit well with her live-in niece Grace, who is less than keen on the idea. Sensible Grace has recently graduated as a teacher and is concerned about her aunt's seemingly reckless behaviour.
When potential tenants begin to arrive at the house, everything from overbearing mothers to maintenance mechanics, to makeover men, soon send plans into a spiral! But the house REALLY begins to feel overcrowded with the arrival of some very unexpected and unwanted family members…….
The Cast
This year’s fantastic cast, who are now well seasoned actors, and have appeared in many of the group's productions over the years include; Fiona Cormican, Breda Delaney, James Shanahan, Marion Grannell, Conor Harte and Elaine Wallace. This year we also extend a very hearty welcome to our returning cast member and veteran, Brendan Dooley.
Once again, we are delighted to benefit from the expertise and skill of our Director Paul Spencer. Paul is not only a very talented director but has won numerous awards for his own acting endeavours.
A Team Effort
Staging a play requires a huge community input. While the actors take centre stage, a large back stage crew supports the cast and ensures your safety and comfort throughout the performance.
Killavilla Drama group are always looking for members. We need experienced people and people who are willing to give acting a try as well as people to help with sound and lighting and back stage crew to help with sets.
This is the 21st production of the drama group and huge credit goes to the various members of the community who have kept it going over the years.
