A man who celebrated International Women's Day by smashing the glass door of a premises in Tullamore appeared at last week's district court.
On March 9, 2025, gardai were contacted to report that Karlis Bedritis (42) of Carraig Cluain, Tullamore was highly intoxicated and abusive to staff and had smashed the glass door at the front of the Bridge House Hotel. He was also abusive and threatening.
Solicitor Aisling Ms Maloney said he was celebrating International Women's Day.
Judge Andrew Cody commented that he was celebrating International Women's Day by being abusive towards them.
Ms Maloney said he was putting his hands up and was embarrassed. He was a married man. He had brought €200 with him to court. Judge Cody said €200 wasn't a lot and he put the case back for three weeks to allow Mr Bedritis to pay full compensation.
He said he wouldn't finalise the case until April 23, next, when he wanted compensation paid.
