Offaly man fined €1,000 for possessing drugs for his own use

A Rath man was convicted of illegal possession of drugs for his own use during last week's Tullamore Court sitting

A RATH man was convicted of illegal possession of drugs for his own use during last week's Tullamore Court sitting.

Before the court was Martin Rock, Garrysallagh, Glebe, Rath, Birr and the offence happened at Garrysallagh Glebe, Rath, on October 11, 2024.

Garda Mark McCallon from Tullamore Garda Station told the court that when he searched the house he found cocaine in a bedroom and cannabis in the kitchen.

“Mr Rock said the cocaine was for his own personal use but the cannabis wasn't his. There was €140 of cocaine and €170 of cannabis."

Sergeant Richard Thornton said Mr Rock had 19 previous convictions including six for drugs possession, one of which was for sale or supply.

Judge Andrew Cody convicted and fined €1,000 and made an order for the destruction of the drugs.
