A GROUP of enthusiastic Scoil Eoin Phoil II pupils recently showcased their knowledge and creativity as part of the European Union's Blue Star Programme, an initiative aimed at fostering a better understanding of the EU through classroom projects and activities. The Tullamore event was attended by Offaly Fianna Fáil TD Tony McCormack and Member of the European Parliament Barry Cowen, who observed the children's work and engaged with them on European themes.

The children explored the history, culture, institutions, and values of the EU and presented a range of projects—from posters and presentations to short videos and performances—demonstrating what they had learned.
Deputy McCormack said: “It’s inspiring to see young people so engaged with European issues,” he said. “They are the future of Ireland and the EU, and programmes like this help equip them with the knowledge and curiosity to shape that future.” Mr Cowen commented: “These young learners are showing us that even at a young age, it's possible to understand and appreciate the values that bind us together as Europeans. I was thoroughly impressed by their creativity and awareness.”
