EMERGING Offaly superstar Alex Dunne had a sensational win in a big Formula 2 race on Sunday morning. The Clonbullogue man raced to his second win of the season at the Formula 2 feature race at Imola in Italy.
Racing for Rodin Motorsport, Dunne showed nerves of steel to get ahead late on and stay ahead of Hitech's Luke Browning and Dino Beganovic.
Fifth on the starting grid, he made decisive moves at the right time throughout, with valuable support from his team mate, Belgian Amaury Cordeel. Dunne got into first place on lap 27 and was seven seconds clear by lap 35 with victory in the bag.
He is now in the championship lead in the standings and is making terrific progress in the teak tough world of formula racing.
