Offaly driver Alex Dunne facing challenging F2 races in Barcelona after series of penalties
Offaly driver Alex Dunne is facing a challenging in the F2 Sprint and Feature races in Barcelona after receiving a series of grid penalties.
He qualified in fifth after Friday's qualifying session but he will start further down the grid for both races once the penalties are applied.
The championship challenger picked up a ten place grid penalty in the sprint race for causing a major accident at the first corner in Monaco where he started from pole position.
On top of that, Alex Dunne has received a further three place grid penalty for today's sprint race and a three place penalty for tomorrow's feature race after running into the back of another car when entering the pits during a free practice session.
After registering two wins so far in the F2 Championship, Alex Dunne is well in contention as he sits in second in the championship just three points behind Luke Browning however he faces an uphill challenge to pick up any meaningful points in Barcelona.
The sprint race takes place at 1pm today (Saturday) with the feature race set to start at 9am on Sunday. Both races will be shown live on Sky F1.
