Men's Sheds offer a wide range of activities to members.
FINE Gael TD for Offaly, John Clendennen, has welcomed the announcement of a new €1 million funding scheme for Men’s Sheds and is encouraging eligible groups across Offaly to apply.
The fund will provide grants of up to €3,000 to help with operational costs such as heating, utilities and insurance. Approximately 450 Men’s Sheds across Ireland are expected to benefit.
Eligible Men’s Sheds in Offaly include Banagher, Belmont, Birr, Clara, Edenderry, Hardy Boys, Kilcormac, Pullough and Tullamore.
“We all know the incredibly positive impact Men’s Sheds have had on communities throughout Ireland, and Offaly is no exception,” said Deputy Clendennen. “They provide a welcoming, inclusive environment where men of all ages can come together, share skills, and work on meaningful projects.”
Deputy Clendennen praised the local efforts of these groups, noting the valuable role they play in enhancing wellbeing, reducing isolation, and building stronger communities.

“I’m particularly familiar with the great work being done by the Tullamore and Birr Men’s Sheds. Their dedication and community spirit are clear to see, and this funding will go a long way in supporting their ongoing efforts.”
The grants are being delivered through the Department of Rural and Community Development, reflecting the Government’s continued support for grassroots community organisations.
“I encourage all eligible Offaly Men’s Sheds to apply as soon as possible. This funding is a recognition of the vital work they do and a signal of Fine Gael’s commitment to supporting Men’s Sheds across Ireland,” concluded Deputy Clendennen.
