Camogie team from Offaly shines at Regional Féile na nGael in Cork

The St Rynagh's U-15 Camogie Team who won the Shield at the Regional Féile na nGael (Region 4) tournament.

THE St Rynagh’s camogie team took part in the Regional Féile na nGael (Region 4) tournament, hosted by Éire Óg in Ovens, Co. Cork last week.
Competing in a four-team group, St Rynagh’s faced tough opposition from the host club Éire Óg, Croagh/Kilfinny of Limerick, and Round Towers from Clondalkin, Dublin.
Their opening match against Croagh/Kilfinny was a closely contested battle. Despite a valiant effort, a late goal from the Limerick side edged them ahead, handing St Rynagh’s a narrow one-point defeat. However, the team responded brilliantly in their second game, delivering a commanding 2-5 to 1-0 victory over Round Towers.
This set up a decisive final group match against Éire Óg, with a place in the Cup semi-finals at stake. In a thrilling encounter, the hosts proved just strong enough, winning by four points and sending St Rynagh’s into the Shield competition.
In the Shield semi-final, St Rynagh’s faced another Cork side, Carrigtwohill. A dominant performance saw them secure a 1-3 to 0-1 win, booking their place in the final.

The Shield final pitted them against Rahoon/Newcastle from Galway. On a warm day and after a series of intense matches, both teams showed incredible determination. St Rynagh’s struck twice in the first half with crucial goals and, despite late pressure from their opponents, held firm to claim a 2-2 to 1-1 victory.
The final whistle sparked scenes of joy and celebration among the St Rynagh’s players and their supporters, capping off a memorable day of camogie.
