Huge sadness in Tullamore at death of influential figure

Dublin native was a founder member of Tullamore Toastmasters club

There was great sadness in Tullamore Toastmasters with the passing of Pat McAsey last weekend.

In a statement, Toastmasters said: "Pat was a founder member of the organisation here in Tullamore and its first President.

"Pat was an outstanding member whose intelligence, gift of communication, and genial nature was admired by all.

"Pat gave some mighty and memorable speeches. He could speak with such knowledge and clarity on any subject.

"Pat will be truly missed by all of us here in the Tullamore club and by members of Toastmasters International. Suaimhneas siorraí dá anam uasal dilis".

He passed away peacefully after a short illness in the wonderful care of Esker Rí Nursing Home, Clara and the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore.

Pre deceased by his beloved wife Annette. Pat will be sadly missed by his loving sons Oisín (Bríd), Coimín (Denis) and Fiachra (Katrine), grandchildren Augusta, Ophelia and Aengus, his extended family and a large circle of friends to whom the deepest sympathy is extended.

His funeral Mass took place in St. Mary's Church, Haddington Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.

Burial after Mass in Dardistown Cemetery, Swords Road, Dublin 9.
