Dysart 4 Mile Classic
A strong Tullamore Harriers crew travelled to support the Dysart 4 Mile Classic, hosted by Mullingar Harriers AC on Wednesday evening. The race marked two significant milestones - the 50th anniversary of Mullingar Harriers AC’ foundation, and the 30th anniversary of their famous win at the 1995 National Senior Men’s Cross-Country Team Championship.
The race followed an out-and-back course starting and finishing in Dysart, Co. Westmeath. While noted to be a fast course, , the route had its fair share of rolling hills to challenge even the most seasoned runners. Over 300 runners took part, with a dominant show of maroon and white singlets from the host club. However, Tullamore Harriers made their presence known with some standout performances.
Michael Murphy claimed a clear overall win, crossing the line in a superb 19:42. The club also celebrated 1st lady honours, with Laura Mooney making a successful return to racing after injury, winning in 22:39. Kevin Minnock joined them on the podium with another strong run for the Harriers.
