Offaly native Ann-Marie McGlynn (Strabane AC, originally Tullamore Harriers) produced a brilliant performance in Phoenix Park on Saturday to win the Irish Life Frank Duffy 10 Mile, smashing the women’s course record in the process.

The reigning national marathon champion, who began her athletics career as a youngster with Tullamore Harriers, crossed the line in 56:08 – more than three and a half minutes clear of the field – and added to her victory at last month’s Fingal 10km. The result makes it two wins from two for McGlynn in the 2025 Irish Life Dublin Race Series.

Behind her, 2024 winner Caitlyn Harvey (RoadRunners AC) finished second in 59:40, with Dublin’s Kate Purcell (Raheny Shamrock AC) third in 59:58.

Speaking after the race, McGlynn, a Larkin from Mucklagh, said:

It was a tough wee course, my first time to do it and again, it was like a mini-Dublin Marathon with all the organisation and set-up. You’re in the middle of the Phoenix Park, come up the night before, get in your warm-up. I can’t believe this is my first time to do the Dublin Race Series, it’s just fantastic. I thought I was going to be on my own but then one of the lads, David, that I’d know, came up beside me within the first mile and we just rocked it out together. I’ll decide a couple of weeks out about doing the Dublin Half. It’s all about seeing where everyone is in the family and then working around that, but I’m very happy with my form.”

In the men’s race, Dubliner Pierre Murchan (Dublin City Harriers) impressed on his debut over the distance, winning in 49:02 – just outside the course record. The 28-year-old, better known as a 5,000m specialist, pulled clear of defending champion Hugh Armstrong (Ballina AC) after the halfway mark, with the Mayo man finishing strongly for second in 49:45. Stephen McAuley (Letterkenny AC), a relative newcomer to running, completed the podium in a personal best of 50:55.

The event saw thousands of runners – from elite club athletes to recreational participants – take on the challenging Phoenix Park course in perfect running conditions.

The Dublin Race Series continues with the Half Marathon in Phoenix Park on 21st September, before concluding with the flagship Irish Life Dublin Marathon on 26th October 2025.
