On your bikes: 24-hour cycle for Tullamore-based charity

EIGHT determined cyclists pushed themselves for 24 hours and raised nearly €13,000 for Accessible Counselling Tullamore (ACT).

The participants, Diarmaid Carroll, Ollie Daly, David Spollen, John Carroll, Paula Tynan, Thomas Ryall, Donal Spollen and Malachy Mangan are all with Carroll O’Keeffe & Co. Ltd, the Clonaslee-based building contractor which has completed many projects in Offaly and Laois.

Diarmaid Carroll, construction director, Carroll O'Keeffe, said ACT, which provides a community-based counselling service, is a cause very close to all their hearts.

“This physically and mentally demanding event tested our stamina, spirit, and teamwork, but we were driven by something far more powerful than fatigue – the vital work ACT does every day for mental health in our community,” said Mr Carroll.

“ACT Tullamore provides accessible, professional counselling services for those in need, ensuring no one has to struggle alone.

“Every pedal stroke we took during this challenge was a step towards supporting their incredible mission.”

The cycle took place around Mondello Park motor racing track and the total raised was €12,880.60.

“Many thanks to all of our wonderful donors, your kindness is greatly appreciated. Also, a very big shout out to all of our cyclists, without you this event wouldn’t have been a success – well done to all,” added Mr Carroll.

Carroll O’Keeffe is currently building 10 houses at Beechwood Court, Daingean. It recently completed the Kingswood residential scheme in Tullamore.
