A book of evidence was served on a man who is accused of harassment and threatening to distribute images.
The man (46), who cannot be named for legal reasons but has a Laois address, is accused of harassment at an address in Laois between April 15 and June 8, 2023 and with threatening to distribute or publish images between May 1 and 2, 2023 and again on April 15, 2023.
Garda Lisa Murray gave evidence of serving the book of evidence on the accused at Portlaoise District Court.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said there were three counts in the book of evidence and the DPP had directed that the case be sent forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court beginning on October 28.
Judge Andrew Cody issued the standard alibi warning and directed that the defendant be sent forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court.
Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald described his client as “a broken man” and said he wasn’t working. He requested legal aid for a solicitor and one barrister.
Judge Cody granted the legal aid and remanded the defendant on bail.
