Tullamore's quadruple hopes dashed but incredible treble still possible
Tullamore hopes or registering a remarkable quadruple in the adult football championships have ended, but only by the narrowest of margins.
Tullamore had three semi-finals in recent days and while they prevailed comfortably in two, they lost out in the third by the narrowest of margins.
Tullamore were already through to the Senior Football semi-final and they will now play Rhode in an eagerly anticipated last four decider between the old rivals on Sunday, October 12.
Tullamore also topped their group in the Intermediate Football Championship and they made it through the semi-final with ease at the weekend seeing off Raheen by 2-14 to 0-9. They will now face St Brigid's in the final.
They are also through to the Junior B Football Final following another comfortable win in the semi-final. They saw off Daingean by 4-15 to 0-8 in the semi-final on Saturday. Neighbours Shamrocks will provide the opposition in the final.
However Tullamore's campaign in the Junior C Football Championship ended on Thursday evening in Gracefield when Raheen came out on top by the narrowest of margins on a score line of 2-8 to 1-12. Raheen will now play Edenderry in the final.
