The closure is to facilitate pedestrian crossing improvements for the local national school
Offaly County Council have announced that Orchard Lane in Birr is set to be closed from the middle of next week.
The busy road will be closed to vehicular traffic from Moorpark Street to Railway Road from Wednesday, October 8 for up to eight weeks.
The road closure will be in place in order to facilitate pedestrian crossing improvement works at St. Brendan's National School.
The council gave notice of it's decision to temporarily close the road on October 1 in accordance with section 75 of the Roads Act 1993 and part 8 of the Road Regulations 1994.
