'A speed deterrent' - Three new raised pedestrian crossings planned for Edenderry
As part of the National Transport Funding allocations, Offaly County Council has received an allocation of €115,000 for the provision of three pedestrian crossings in Edenderry, the September meeting of Offaly County Council was told.
The meeting was told that the aim of the project is to improve the pedestrian routes and the pedestrian environments throughout the town.
The works will include the upgrade of the crossings on the R441 and R402 and the construction of a new crossing on the R402.
Cllr Noel Cribbin warmly welcomed the news. “These works are much needed,” he remarked. “It's also good that they will be raised crossings, which will work as a speed deterrent.”
A member of the Council Executive commented that it's hoped to proceed to the tender stage before the end of 2025.
