AN allocation of €425,334 funding for the Daingean Town Hall Conservation Project under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF) has been confirmed this morning by Offaly Fine Gael TD, John Clendennen.
The announcement was confirmed by Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD, and Minister of State for Community Development and Charities, Jerry Buttimer TD.
Deputy Clendennen described the funding as a “significant milestone for the regeneration of Daingean,” noting the town’s historic role as the former capital of County Offaly and the Town Hall’s importance as a cultural and architectural landmark.
“This investment represents a major step forward for Daingean,” said Deputy Clendennen. “The conservation and redevelopment of the Town Hall will not only safeguard an important piece of our heritage but also inject new life into the town centre, creating opportunities for community, cultural and economic activity for generations to come.”

Deputy Clendennen paid particular tribute to Cllr Liam Quinn, commending his work as a member of the Courthouse Committee and his persistence in advancing the project both locally and nationally.
“This successful funding allocation is in no small part thanks to the tireless efforts of Cllr Liam Quinn. It has been a privilege to work alongside him to secure this vital investment for Daingean.”
He also acknowledged the commitment of the local committee and the Offaly County Council Regeneration Team, who have worked in partnership to progress the project.
“I recently met the local group and want to sincerely thank all the committee members and the Offaly County Council Regeneration Team led by Olwen Cummins, for their dedication and determination. I look forward to continuing our work together to bring this landmark conservation project to completion.”
The Daingean Town Hall Project will restore and revitalise the historic building, protecting its heritage while strengthening its role as a vibrant community and cultural hub for Daingean and the wider Offaly area.
