Ruben celebrates his 10th parkrun with a cake basked by his Mam

RUBEN from Daingean, aged just 4 years old, completed his 10th parkrun at Mountlucas parkrun at the weekend. The young boy only completed his first ever parkrun in May of this year, accompanied by his Mam and older brother and sister who regularly complete the event. He has been attending parkrun frequently since then and has even completed parkruns in other locations like Tullamore and Kilcock.

His Mam had made him a special celebratory cake to mark his 10th parkrun milestone, which was enjoyed by all in attendance. He was also joined on the day by his sister Pearl and brother Bruce. Between them, Pearl and Bruce have completed approximately 175 parkruns, so it is easy to see where Ruben takes his inspiration from. He has completed all 10 parkruns with a combination of jogging and walking.

Speaking to Ruben after the event he said "I am very proud of myself for doing so many parkruns. My cake was really good and it was made by Mam. I helped make it by cutting out the letters for my name."

Mountlucas parkrun takes place at Bord na Móna Mountlucas windfarm every Saturday morning at 9.30am sharp. There's something for everyone at Mountlucas parkrun whether you want to walk, run, volunteer or just meet new people. For more information see
