The new Fairgreen space in Ferbane, which has just been completed.
The Phase 1 works on the new Ferbane Fairgreen are now complete, the October meeting of Birr Municipal District.
The works began in May after the public garden project had received funding of €250,000. It received planning permission in December 2022.
The works included the construction of an attractive public park space with hard and soft landscaping including stone paving, gravel paths, a grassed area, trees and hedging.
Local Councillor Hughie Egan, Cathaoirleach of Birr MD, told the October meeting that the new space is “a phenomenal, brilliant job”. He added that it was "a great pity the old fire station facade couldn't be incorporated into the Fairgreen. Unfortunately the facade's foundations weren't good enough. But despite that things have turned out very positively. The contractor should take a bow, as should Ferbane Tidy Towns."
