Local tattoo artist Matthew Phelan is holding a fundraising event in his studio for the Irish Heart Foundation on Friday.

Owner of Quest Tattoo in Thurles, Matthew was inspired to hold the event after he lost his grandmother.

"Before opening in Thurles, I was based in my hometown in Roscrea for five years in my own private studio.

"Every year gained more traction and success, and from hard work and determination, being on the road doing tattoo conventions in Ireland and mastering my craft in the USA, I have built my own personal brand into the success of Quest Tattoo Studio alongside building an incredible team of likeminded passionate artists", Matthew explained.

Matthew and his team of artists at Quest tattoo studio in Thurles have organised a fundraising charity day for this Friday (31st October) from 10am to 5pm.

"We will be tattooing all day from a variety of tattoo designs to choose from for our clients and the public. Whether you are interested in getting a tattoo, or just calling in for a chat and seeing our creative space, or calling in for a coffee, all are welcome to support and donate to this good cause.

"The event will be a Halloween themed day, so staff will be wearing costumes to have a Halloween theme and have a bit of fun and laughter throughout the day. We want to give back to all our clients who have supported us the last year, but more importantly we want to donate all proceeds to the Irish heart foundation, which is a charity that has personal meaning to me after losing my grandmother a few years ago", Matthew said.

"I will be running the charity day along with the help of my fellow artists Vio and Maria so we can work as a team to deliver the best experience possible for our clients and raise as much that we can for for the Irish heart foundation.

"I set up Quest Tattoo Studio in the heart of Thurles one year ago to build a tattoo brand in our county. We are focused on building the best tattoo experience for our clients and want to build a strong reputation in the Midlands and keep tattooing alive in our county", Matthew told the Midland Tribune.
