HOMES in the Derrybeg area, just outside Tullamore, have been left without broadband following a traffic collision last week.
Local resident Tom McGowan said all power was cut off following the accident on Thursday evening last when a pole and wires were knocked down.
The accident occurred when a car turning off the road at Derrybeg was rear-ended.
The electricity supply was restored within hours but homes are still without an adequate broadband connection almost a week later, Mr McGowan tod the Tribune on Tuesday morning.
He said he contacted Eir in relation to the situation to no avail and pointed out that some residents were dependant on the internet for their work.
Mr McGowan said motorists take their lives in their own hands when turning off the road at Derrybeg onto a side road.
"There's accidents here every other day and it's only a matter of time before someone is killed," he warned.
