Stalwart Offaly union organiser elected Honorary President of SIPTU

Rahan's Alan Lindley says he will be seeking solutions on the cost of living and housing crises which are mutually beneficial to all parties within society

RAHAN'S Alan Lindley has been formally elected at the SIPTU Biennial Delegate Conference in Galway Honorary President of SIPTU .

Over 300 delegates voted on behalf of over 200,000 members where Alan got a clear mandate for the next two years.

Alan is married to Sharon and has five grown children and is an employee of Waterways Ireland for nearly 40 years.

He is currently active on the Board of Management of the Laois Offaly Education Training Board (LOETB) and a member of the Offaly County Council Strategic Policy Committee governing Planning and Finance.

He has been a SIPTU National Executive member for six years and Honorary Vice President for the last two years.

Alan is currently on various other national and local committees and has been involved in the SIPTU Stop 67 Campaign which successfully led to the retirement age remaining at 66 amongst many other National Issues.

Commenting on his election, Alan stated: "I am looking forward to playing a role with members, Government and employers in seeking solutions on the cost of living and housing crises which are mutually beneficial to all parties within society and ensuring housing remains affordable and ownership is prioritised for workers.

"I am also looking forward to the tasks ahead and believe in a collaborative approach that is critical to a successful delivery on issues and providing stability for all."
