AIB staff and representative of neighbouring businesses who took part in the AIB GOAL Mile on Friday morning
TULLAMORE AIB's inaugural GOAL mile was held in the centre of the county town this morning, Friday, December 5.
Participants gathered outside the AIB branch on William St and completed a circuit in the town centre and along the Grand Canal before returning to the bank for festive refreshments.
Branch manager, Julie Martin explained the inaugural event had been confined to businesses on William St but will be expanded in coming years.
She said it was hoped to establish the event as an annual fixture on the pre-Christmas scene in Tullamore.
The GOAL Mile raises funds for families in Gaza, Sudan and 14 other countries worldwide who desperately need support to survive and to escape conflict due to the devastating impact of climate change and war.
By taking part in the event participants are making a real difference to vulnerable communities around the world said a statement from GOAL.
