A TULLAMORE woman was given a suspended prison sentence for assaulting a Garda, during last week's sitting of Tullamore District Court.
Nicole Cuskelly, 17 Cloncollig, Tullamore was charged with assaulting Garda Ciaran Ryan in O'Connor Square, Tullamore on December 27, 2024.
The defending solicitor Aisling Maloney handed in a Probation Officer's Report to Judge Andrew Cody. The Judge said it didn't make for favourable reading.
“In the report it says Ms Cuskelly was the victim, but this is not true, we saw the video footage of the event. She is not taking responsibility for her actions.”
Ms Maloney said her client did accept that her actions were wrong. Her behaviour was caused by alcohol, she added.
Sgt Brendan Kearns said Ms Cuskelly had a number of previous convictions, including drink driving and careless driving.
Judge Cody sentenced to three months imprisonment, suspending the sentence for two years.
