Deputy John Clendennen
FINE Gael TD for Offaly, John Clendennen has welcomed confirmation from Minister of State for Migration, Colm Brophy that Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service has been selected as one of 37 projects nationally to receive support under the Ireland Against Racism Fund 2025.
The Fund, a key part of the National Action Plan Against Racism, will see over €1.5 million allocated to Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and community organisations working to combat racism, promote racial equality and strengthen community cohesion.
“I am very pleased to confirm that the Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service has been awarded funding under the Ireland Against Racism Fund 2025. This is an important investment in our community and a recognition of the vital work being done locally to tackle racism and promote equality,” said Deputy Clendennen.
The Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service was awarded the maximum amount available under Scheme B for their project entitled Bridging the Gap – Access to Safety for Ethnic Minority Victims of Domestic Abuse. While based in Offaly, the service offers support across Laois, Longford, Offaly, Roscommon and Westmeath.
“I want to commend the Service, the board members, the volunteers and all those involved in the Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service on their successful application. It is recognition of the positive impact the Service has both here in Offaly and across our neighbouring counties.
“Initiatives like this help ensure that every person, regardless of background, feels safe, valued and supported. This funding will allow them to build on that work in a meaningful and impactful way,” concluded Clendennen.
