Plans have been unveiled for major development works including a new pitch and two new viewing stands on the GAA grounds in Daingean.

Details of the proposed development were revealed as part of a new planning application submitted to Offaly County Council by The Trustees of Daingean GAA Club, on December 18.

The plans include the construction of a new 145m x 90m sports pitch along with the installation of eight floodlights (18m high) to the northwest of the site.

The application, which currently has a pre-validation status, also seeks permission for a viewing stand to be located at the new sports pitch, consisting of a toilet block and storage area.

There is also plans for the construction of a second viewing stand which will be located at the existing main sports pitch to the south of the site, consisting of a toilet block and storage area.

Permission is also sought to connect to the main foul sewage on site and all associated site works at the grounds which have an address at Townparks, Philipstown in Daingean.

The planning application confirms that no Integrated Pollution Control (IPC) license or waste license is required for the project as the location isn't deemed as a protected structure.

The planning authority will consider if the site notice complies with all regulations and that the information submitted in the application is deemed correct before coming to a decision.

The application states that any submissions or observations on the proposed development must be submitted to Offaly County Council by January 30, 2026. A decision is then expected by February 20.
