Met Eireann issues Snow and Ice Warnings for Ireland with temperatures to plummet
Met Eireann has issued Snow and Ice Warnings for Ireland with temperatures to set plummet as a blast of winter weather hits the country.
All of the country has been hit with an Ice Warning while a number of areas are also at risk of significant snowfalls.
A Status Yellow Snow-Ice warning for Donegal warns that there will be wintry showers with some snow accumulations. This warning is valid from 8pm on Friday until 11am on Saturday. Met Eireann is warning of hazardous travel conditions and poor visibility.
A Status Yellow Low Temperature/Ice warning for has been issued for Munster, Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow. Met Éireann is warning of temperatures falling to between -2 and -4 degrees in many areas with sharp or severe frost and icy stretches leading to hazardous travel conditions. This warning is from 6pm on Saturday until 11am on Sunday.
There is also a Status Yellow Snow-Ice warning for Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Connacht and Louth. This warns that there will be wintry showers with some snow accumulations. This warning is valid from 6pm on Saturday until 11am on Sunday. Met Eireann is warning of hazardous travel conditions and poor visibility.
There is also a Yellow Snow and Ice Warning for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, Derry issued by the UK Met Office Weather Warning which warns that wintry showers will become more widespread, bringing some disruption to travel from 3pm on Friday until noon on Saturday.
