Offaly teenager sent forward to Circuit Court on assault charge
A young man has been sent for trial at Tullamore Circuit Court on a charge of allegedly assaulting another man in Birr.
Adriano Szoma (19), Camcor Park, Scurragh, Birr, is alleged to have assaulted Robert Boland, causing him harm, at Wilmer Road, Birr on August 5, 2024.
A book of evidence was served on Mr Szoma by Garda Stacey O'Brien who told Tullamore District Court the DPP consented to the accused being sent forward to Tullamore Circuit Court on January 13 on the assault charge.
Bail conditions fixed at the District Court remain in place.
Mr Szoma's solicitor, Ashling Maloney, applied for legal aid and handed in a statement of means for her client, saying that while he worked in Romaquip, the payment of rent was among his outgoings.
Judge Andrew Cody granted legal aid and sent the young man forward to the Circuit Court.
