Roscrea came alive with music by street performers for great causes during the Christmas holidays, culminating with a presentation to several foundations this week.

On Monday night in the Auburn Lounge several local organisations were supported with the proceeds raised by the musicians during their marathon Christmas busking performances.

The organisers of the recent Tipp-Off Charity Busking & Music Event in Roscrea wish to extend their sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to making the day such a success.

“We are deeply grateful to the musicians, performers, volunteers and members of the public who gave so generously of their time, talent and support”, organiser Ronan Kenny told the Tribune.

“The atmosphere created throughout the day reflected the very best of community spirit and goodwill. Our appreciation also extends to the foundations represented and supported on the day — Ashling Murphy Memorial Foundation, Dillon Quirke Foundation, North Tipperary Hospice and Offaly Hospice — whose presence highlighted the importance of the causes being supported”, Ronan said.

Special thanks are due to Ryan’s Shop & Bar (The Auburn Lodge), who provided a venue at short notice and offered outstanding food and hospitality to performers, organisers and attendees throughout the event.

The organisers also wish to acknowledge Tipp FM, and in particular Eamon O’Dwyer and the 'Down Your Way' team, for recording and sharing the spirit of the day with a wider audience.

Special mention also goes to Pat Flanagan and the Roscrea Comhaltas musicians; Sean O'Meara at O'Meara Slides and Roscrea Town Centre and Roscrea Leisure Centre for providing the base throughout the event.

They also thank the people of Roscrea and the wider midlands for their continued generosity and support. The success of the event once again showed how music can bring communities together in support of meaningful causes.
