Should Castle Street in Roscrea be pedestrianised? Or should more space be given to cycle lanes and vehicle parking?

You can have your say about what you think would be best for Castle Street at a public consultation event in Roscrea's Black Mills complex later this month.

Many people in Roscrea have expressed serious concerns about the current layout of the pedestrian crossings at the top of Castle Street and into Market Square in recent years.

The issue has been repeatedly highlighted at municipal council meetings for the area by local representatives since the junction's redesign in 2020.

Potential solutions to this issue, as well as opportunities raised by creating a pedestrian area which extends into the courtyard of Roscrea Castle and onto the street will be explored at the public consultation session.

The event at the Black Mills complex is called the 'Revitalising Castle Street – Community Consultation Event' and will take place on Thursday, 22nd January, from 4.00pm to 7.30pm.

This event is an opportunity for everyone in Roscrea to see how the proposals have developed following feedback received through the online community survey and previous stakeholder engagement in November last year.

An overview of the project will be on public display as well as a summary of the consultation feedback and the wider movement and parking strategy for the town.

Also on display will be an outline of Roscrea's tourism strategy and Masterplan option layouts for Castle Street and Church Street.
