Plans for the new one way system proposed for Roscrea's Ayr Hill

Tipperary County Council has proposed installing a one way traffic system on Ayr Hill in Roscrea.

Local people in Roscrea can express their opinion about the plans by contacting the details below.

The works will include associated line marking, signage, and drainage improvements.

Additionally, the development will incorporate a bio-retention system featuring a kerb build-out.

Drawings of the proposed works are available for inspection until Friday 13th February on the Council's website and at Thurles Municipal District Office, Castle Avenue, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. E41KA44.

Documents may be inspected during normal office hours, 9:30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding weekends and Bank Holidays).

Submissions regarding the proposal, clearly marked “Ayr Hill one-way system”, can be made by e-mail to section38thurlesmd@ tipperarycoco.ie or by post addressed to: Senior Executive Engineer, Thurles Municipal District, Castle Avenue, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Closing date for receipt of submissions is 4:30pm on Friday, 13th February, 2026.

CASTLE STREET CONSULTATION

Meanwhile, the community in Roscrea are reminded of a public consultation event to explore options for the future of Castle Street.

You can have your say about what you think would be best for Castle Street at a public consultation event in Roscrea's Black Mills complex later this month.

The event at the Black Mills complex is called the 'Revitalising Castle Street – Community Consultation Event' and will take place on Thursday, 22nd January, from 4.00pm to 7.30pm.

This event is an opportunity for everyone in Roscrea to see how the proposals have developed following feedback received through the online community survey and previous stakeholder engagement in November last year.

An overview of the project will be on public display as well as a summary of the consultation feedback and the wider movement and parking strategy for the town.

Also on display will be an outline of Roscrea's tourism strategy and Masterplan option layouts for Castle Street and Church Street.
