'He was always in great humour' - Tributes after death of much-loved Offaly postman
Tributes are being paid this week to former Edenderry postman Noel McRedmond after his sad passing.
Noel, of Kilclare, Durrow, Tullamore, Offaly and formerly Clonaslee, Co Laois, is predeceased by his parents, Alice and Billy, his brothers, Pat and Baby William and his sister, Cathy.
Noel passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family in the wonderful care of the staff of Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore. His funeral is taking place on Wednesday, February 25, in his native Clonaslee.
"Noel will be forever missed by his devoted and loving family, his wife, Máire, daughter Gráinne, son Rónan, his adoring grandchildren, Aoibhín, Conn, Seána, Cian, Clíodhna and Éadaoin, son-in-law Hugh, daughter-in-law Alice, his brothers, Michael, Thomas and David, his sisters, Breeda Hally (Ballaghmore) and Sadie Rigney (Ballaghmore), his niece, Niamh Gorman and his nephew, Gearóid Walsh, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives, friends and neighbours," his RIP.ie death notice reads.

Tributes from far and wide have been flooding in for the former postman who worked in the Edenderry area for three decades.
Fine Gael councillor and Noel's former colleague as a postman for many years, Cllr Noel Cribbin described him as "one of the best," adding, "Noel was a postman in Edenderry for up to 30 years, a pure gentleman who was very popular in the town and particularly in the Shean, Ballyfore and Castlejordon areas where he delivered for years."
Another former colleague from Edenderry Post Office said: "Deepest condolences to Noel's family and friends. I worked with him in Edenderry Post Office. An absolute gentleman and always in great humour. May he rest in peace."
A third said: "Rest in peace Noel. A pure gentleman. Worked with Noel in Edenderry PO many years ago. Condolences to Noel's family and friends."
A Ballyfore resident where Noel delivered post for many years wrote: "Deepest sympathy to Noel's wife, children and extended family on Noel's sad passing. Noel was our postman for many years, a gentleman, always smiling and a great chat. May his gentle soul rest in peace."
Noel’s Requiem Mass will be celebrated in Saint Manman’s Church, Clonalsee (R32 N6E5) at 2 pm on Wednesday, February 25. Following the Mass, Noel will be buried in Clonaslee Cemetery.
