A fascinating William De Roe photograph showing shops and people on Shinrone's Main Street during the 19th Century.
THE people of Shinrone and the wider area will be given a special and rare opportunity to see a series of fascinating photographs of the village and its people during the 19th Century this coming Thursday.
Shinrone Heritage Group is inviting the local community to this special evening which will celebrate the village’s rich visual history. During the evening they will be able to see a presentation of rare photographs taken by the noted late 19th-century photographer William De Roe.
The collection, which offers a striking glimpse of the people, streets and landmarks of Shinrone in times past, will be presented by De Roe’s grandson, Patrick, at Cloughmoyle School House on Main Street, Shinrone, on Thursday, March 19th at 7.30pm.
Ger Murphy of Shinrone Heritage Group said the event will be a rare and valuable occasion for the community. “This is a unique opportunity to see Shinrone through the photographer's lens some 100 years ago,” he remarked. "Shinrone Heritage hopes the evening will give people a deeper appreciation of the village’s heritage and its remarkable pictorial record. All are very welcome."
