Opening of 'Looking for a Rook’s Caw' exhibition at Offaly theatre

BIRR Theatre & Arts Centre is delighted to announce Looking for a Rook’s Caw, a new exhibition by Roscommon-based artist Caoimhe Glennon.
The exhibition will open with a public reception on Saturday next March 21st, 2026, at 2.30pm, inviting audiences to explore Glennon’s evocative work, which weaves together themes of nature, the body, and the moment of revelation.
Looking for a Rook’s Caw builds on Glennon’s previous exhibition, The Invisible Visible, and delves into the connection she explored between rookeries and her diagnosis of polycystic ovaries, both of which reveal themselves as clusters of dark circles under specific circumstances. Inspired by her personal experience with PCOS, Glennon’s work invites viewers to reflect on these often seen and equally neglected cluster systems.
The exhibition features photography, intricate drawings, and writing on materials including RC photography paper, lustre paper, and tracing paper. Each individual piece is a component of the overall cluster of material that constitutes the immersive experience of the exhibition. Each individual piece also captures the delicate balance between light, shadow, and texture that informed the artistic process.

Artist Statement
“In mythology, corvids are creatures that exist between life and death, giving them foresight into the fate of others. Their intelligence stirs up a playfulness, so they choose to reveal this knowledge as uncanny messages. This exhibition is a poetic construction that highlights these connections and explores the moment of revelation—when we finally see what has always been there.”

Caoimhe Glennon is a sculptural artist based in Roscommon. Her practice explores the intersections of the body and nature, and her work has been exhibited in Limerick and the Midlands. Looking for a Rook’s Caw continues her artistic exploration, blending personal narrative with universal themes of discovery and connection.
