Mairead Scally and her family at Mountlucas
It was a beautifully bright and sunny morning at the weekend at Mountlucas parkrun. There were a number of milestones achieved and celebrated at the event, where almost 70 people walked, jogged or ran the 5km looped course.
Paschal Naughton volunteered at parkrun for the 100th time. Parkrun events are run entirely by volunteers and Paschal has made a significant contribution to Mountlucas parkrun since 2019. Amy Sullivan completed her 25th parkrun, Jack Collins completed his 50th parkrun, Michelle Perry completed her 150th parkrun, and Mairéad Scally completed her 200th parkrun.
Michelle and Mairéad brought home-baked treats to share with attendees. Notably, Michelle has completed all 150 of her parkruns at Mountlucas parkrun. Speaking to Mairéad after the event she said:
"Mountlucas parkrun has been an important part of my life since 2019. It started out as something just for me, but over the years it has become a shared source of joy for myself and my family, where we will either take part in, or volunteer at, Mountlucas parkrun each week.
The wonderful thing about parkrun is that it's non-competitive and entirely run by volunteers, which means it has a really strong sense of community. I have gained so many new friends through the parkrun and it has been magical to see my children start out on their parkrun journeys, and for it to become something they love too."
